Pakistan has signed a deal with Azerbaijan to sell JF-17 Block-III fighter jets as part of its efforts to strengthen defense ties with friendly countries, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Thursday.
During his recent visit to Pakistan, Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev was given a briefing on the JF-17 Block-III’s combat capabilities and its various uses. The military’s media wing highlighted this information.
At President Aliyev’s request, Pakistan sent a contingent from the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) to Baku to participate in ADEX-2024. This event showcased the JF-17 Thunder Block-III, demonstrating Pakistan’s aerial skills and featuring a static display of the aircraft.
During the deployment, the JF-17 fighter jets conducted air-to-air refueling with the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) Multi Role Tanker Transport (MRTT) aircraft. This operation demonstrated the long-range capabilities of the PAF’s fighter jets as they flew directly to Baku.
President Ilham Aliyev visited the static display of the JF-17 Block-III and later watched an exciting aerial demonstration. This event showcased the jet’s agility and maneuverability, highlighting the skill of the PAF pilots.
The JF-17 Thunder Block-III is a modern 4.5 generation multi-role fighter aircraft. It features an AESA radar and long-range beyond visual range (BVR) capabilities, allowing it to perform a wide range of combat missions. This enhances Azerbaijan’s air power and strengthens its national security.
President Aliyev emphasized that Pakistan’s support would greatly help in building stronger military cooperation, enhancing defense collaboration, and deepening the friendly relations between the two countries.
