British Police Officer Sparks Outrage After Video Shows Him Kicking Man in the Head Disturbing footage of a police officer kicking and stamping on a man’s head during an incident at Manchester Airport has gone viral online. The video, recorded on Wednesday afternoon (July 24), quickly gained widespread attention on social media, prompting concerns over the officer’s conduct.
Greater Manchester Police responded to the incident, stating they had referred themselves to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) due to the seriousness of the events. According to BBC News, one officer has been removed from operational duties pending investigation.
The incident reportedly began with an altercation at Terminal 2 that escalated into a violent confrontation with officers attempting to make an arrest. In the video, a male officer is seen aiming a taser at a man on the ground. The altercation involved British Pakistanis, as per reports.
Onlookers can be heard shouting as the officer proceeds to kick and stamp on the man’s head. The scene remains chaotic with another officer pointing a taser at bystanders and a female officer turning her taser towards others.
The footage shows several voices pleading for the kicking to stop, while expletives are shouted amid multiple officers surrounding the man on the ground. Another officer is seen later kicking a different man who is on his knees with his arms raised.
Police issued a statement following the release of the footage, confirming the arrest of four men at the scene on suspicion of affray and assaulting emergency service workers. A female officer reportedly suffered a broken nose, and several other officers required hospitalization.
Assistant Chief Constable Wasim Chaudhry expressed understanding over public concern, stating, “We know that the footage of an incident at Manchester Airport circulating widely shows an event that is truly shocking.” He acknowledged that such use of force in an arrest is uncommon and alarming.
The IOPC announced it would assess GMP’s referral and determine necessary further actions.
