Pakistan Champions Outclass Indian Champions by 68 Runs in World Championship of Legends Match

Ahead of a highly anticipated encounter between senior Pakistani and Indian cricketers at the World Championship of Legends in Birmingham, United Kingdom, fans were treated to a rare but exciting sight as Bollywood actor Ajay Devgan, also a co-owner of the tournament, engaged in a brief interaction with former Pakistan all-rounder Shahid Afridi.

The video of Ajay and Afridi shaking hands and chatting pleasantly has been circulating widely on social media, delighting fans who rarely see celebrities from both neighboring countries together in one frame.

In the match itself, Pakistan Champions delivered a commanding performance, defeating Indian Champions by 68 runs in their 8th encounter of the WCL 2024. This victory marked Pakistan’s third win in the tournament, propelling them to the top of the points table among six competing teams. Prior to this match, they had secured victories against formidable opponents such as Australia and West Indies.

Batting first after winning the toss, Pakistan posted a formidable total of 243/4. The opening pair of Sharjeel Khan and Kamran Akmal provided a blazing start, accumulating 145 runs for the first wicket. Sharjeel smashed a rapid 72 off 30 balls, including seven fours and five sixes, while Kamran contributed with a brisk 77 off 40 balls before being dismissed in the 14th over.

Sohaib Maqsood played a crucial cameo, scoring a quickfire 51 off 26 balls, supported by Afridi and Shoaib Malik towards the end of the innings.

In response, India began their chase strongly with Robin Uthappa scoring a quickfire 22 off 12 balls. However, Pakistan’s bowlers struck at regular intervals to peg back the Indian batting line-up. Shoaib Malik’s three-wicket haul, including the key wicket of Ambati Rayadu, kept India in check. Wahab Riaz also contributed significantly with three wickets, dismantling India’s lower order.

Despite a valiant effort from Suresh Raina, who scored 52 off 40 balls, India could only manage 175/9 in their allotted 20 overs. Pakistan’s disciplined bowling and sharp fielding ensured they maintained control throughout the innings, securing a convincing victory.

With this win, Pakistan Champions affirmed their dominance in the tournament and set the stage for further thrilling encounters in the World Championship of Legends.
