Pakistan defeated India convincingly in the World Championship of Legends
Pakistan won against India by 68 runs in the eighth match of the World Championship of Legends 2024 at Edgbaston Stadium in Birmingham.
Pakistan batted first after losing the toss and scored a strong total of 243/4. Their opening batsmen, Sharjeel Khan and Kamran Akmal, gave them a great start with a partnership of 145 runs for the first wicket. Sharjeel played aggressively, scoring 72 runs off just 30 balls with seven fours and five sixes. Kamran continued the onslaught with 77 runs off 40 balls before getting out in the 14th over.
Sohaib Maqsood contributed significantly with a quickfire 51 runs off 26 balls, which included five sixes and two fours. Shahid Afridi, however, got out without scoring any runs, and Shoaib Malik remained not out with 25 runs off 18 balls.
This batting performance allowed Pakistan to set a challenging target for India. Their aggressive approach from the start and substantial contributions from key players ensured a commanding victory in the match.
Ambati Rayudu and Suresh Raina built a strong partnership, but India faced a setback when Rayudu was dismissed for 39 runs by Shoaib Malik. Malik then slowed down India’s scoring rate, putting pressure on their chase. Wahab Riaz had a significant impact, taking wickets in an over where he dismissed Irfan Pathan for 15 runs and Pawan Negi for 1 run. These dismissals added to India’s difficulties in chasing the target set by Pakistan. Ultimately, India finished their innings at 175/9 in response to Pakistan’s total.
