The Punjab government plans to hire 30,000 new teachers for public schools to address the shortage, as reported by a private news channel.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has directed Provincial Education Minister Sikandar Hayat to oversee the recruitment process. These new teachers will be specialists in their subjects, and recruitment will be managed by the Public Service Commission.
During Shehbaz Sharif’s previous tenure, 46,000 teachers were hired. Minister Hayat mentioned that the recruitment will be conducted in phases, with the goal of completing it during the summer holidays.
Recently, the provincial education minister announced an additional weekly holiday to reduce teachers’ workload. Schools will now be closed for two days a week, with extended hours on Fridays. Saturdays will be utilized for teacher training, lesson planning, and skill enhancement.
