The latest Android update for Google Pixel smartphones addresses numerous security vulnerabilities, a standard practice in operating system updates across platforms. Despite Google not disclosing specific details about the fixes, a recent report by Forbes sheds light on a more intriguing aspect of this update.
The U.S. government has mandated that federal employees must install this update within the next 10 days, by July 4, or cease using Google Pixel smartphones altogether. This directive, issued by the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) and documented in the Catalogue of Known Exposures (KEV), underscores the severity of the vulnerabilities.
GrapheneOS has also highlighted these concerns, emphasizing that CVE-2024-32896 affects not only Pixel devices but potentially other Android smartphones as well. Users of Android devices are advised to remain vigilant for forthcoming updates addressing these security issues.
