The Huawei Mate 70 will launch in the fourth quarter of 2024, as confirmed
The Huawei Mate 70 has officially announced the Mate 70 series after months of rumors. These phones are expected to be available in stores from October to December this year.
The news was confirmed by Huawei’s Consumer Business Chairman, Yu Chengdong. He also shared an important detail: the Mate 70 series will be the first to have the stable version of HarmonyOS NEXT, Huawei’s operating system, already installed.
Huawei introduced its new HarmonyOS NEXT operating system at the HDC Developer Conference. This is a big change because HarmonyOS NEXT is not based on the Android system used in earlier Huawei phones. This means devices that run HarmonyOS NEXT cannot use Android apps.
The next Mate 70 series will get the stable version of HarmonyOS NEXT first. Huawei will likely put this operating system on more devices after the Mate 70 launch. HarmonyOS testing has started with the Mate 60 series and other Huawei products.
We don’t have much confirmed information about how the new Mate 70 series will look and feel. Leaks say the Pro model might have the same triple front camera as older phones. It’s not clear if this design will be on all Mate 70 models.
The Mate 60 Pro has a front camera system that includes a 13MP ultrawide lens, a 3D sensor for depth perception, and extra sensors and lasers for secure face unlock. It’s expected that the Mate 70 Pro will also use these same front-facing technologies.
In addition to the front camera setup, leaks suggest upgrades for the Mate 70 series’ cameras. The new phones might feature advanced sensors from Omnivision, which could improve the quality of photos and videos. Moreover, the top model in the lineup might have a special retractable lens, similar to the Huawei Pura 70 Ultra.
There’s also curiosity about the processor in the Mate 70 series. There are rumors about a new Kirin chip, but details are still unknown.
