Online portal for purchase of sacrificial animals launched
The Punjab government has launched its first official online portal for purchasing sacrificial animals, making it easier for citizens to buy animals from home ahead of Eidul Adha. This portal offers detailed listings of animals, including pictures, age, weight, species, breed, price, and other relevant details.
The Punjab Cattle Market Management has ensured the portal’s security for transactions, requiring ID card numbers from both buyers and sellers.
Eidul Adha 2024 will be celebrated based on the moon sighting, with potential dates being June 17 or June 18, depending on the length of the month of Zilqad. The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee will make the official announcement after the moon sighting.
Eidul Adha, also known as the Feast of Sacrifice, commemorates Prophet Ibrahim’s willingness to sacrifice his son for God. The festival involves the traditional slaughter of animals, with the meat shared among family, friends, and the poor, and the celebration continues for three days.
