Pakistan Plans to Hire Australian Pitch Expert for ICC Champions Trophy

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is going to hire Tony Hemming, an Australian pitch expert who has lots of experience in preparing pitches for big cricket tournaments. Hemming has also worked with FIFA and the Saudi Arabian Football Federation in the past, where he helped improve football grounds.

Tony Hemming will take over from Agha Zahid, who has been the main pitch expert for the PCB since 2004. Hemming’s new job is to make sure the cricket pitches at three main stadiums in Pakistan – National Bank Arena in Karachi, Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, and Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium – are in great shape for the ICC Champions Trophy in 2025.

Before this, Hemming worked at the ICC Cricket Academy, where he learned how to make top-notch cricket pitches. Now, his main job will be to teach Pakistani ground staff how to do the same.

The PCB chose Hemming because they want to make sure the pitches for the Champions Trophy are really good, so all teams have a fair chance to play well.
