The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is launching open trials for women cricketers nationwide, starting today, to discover and nurture grassroots talent.

Women’s Cricket Trials: PCB to Hold Assessments in 14 Cities Starting Today The trials will be conducted in 14 cities, including Sost Valley, marking the first time this region—renowned for its scenic beauty and enthusiastic cricket community—will host such an event. This move underscores PCB’s dedication to uncovering female talent in remote areas.

The trials are organized in two phases. The first phase will take place from August 5 to 7 in Gilgit, Hunza, and Sost. The second phase will run from August 21 to September 3. Should any trial dates be disrupted by rain, make-up sessions will be held on September 4 and 5.

Former international cricketers Asad Shafiq and Batool Fatima, who are members of the women’s national selection committee, will oversee the trials. The process will include two categories: U-19 and Emerging. Players born on or after September 1, 2005, are eligible for the U-19 trials.

In the second phase, players can register online for the trials, with forms becoming available in due course. They must bring completed forms along with both original and copy of their Birth certificates/B-forms/CNIC to the trials. On-site registration will also be available at the trial locations.

Asad Shafiq, a former Test cricketer and selection committee member, emphasized, “These trials are crucial for discovering and developing the next generation of women cricketers. We aim to provide talent from every region of the country with an equal opportunity to excel. This process will help them join domestic teams and, eventually, the national side.”
