Which teams have qualified for the semifinals?
- South Africa
- England
- Afghanistan
- India
- The first semifinal of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 will feature Afghanistan against South Africa on June 26 at 8:30pm local time (00:30 GMT). The match will take place at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy in San Fernando, Trinidad and Tobago.

How’s the weather forecast in Guyana, and Trinidad and Tobago?
- Georgetown, Guyana, where the match is scheduled, faces severe weather warnings with heavy showers expected over the four days. There is a risk of rain interruptions during the game, potentially leading to a complete washout.
- San Fernando, Trinidad and Tobago, hosting the first semifinal in the evening, also faces the possibility of rain affecting the match. However, the forecast is less dire compared to Georgetown, offering a chance for an uninterrupted game on Wednesday night.
Are there any special conditions and rules for the semifinals?
Yes, but since both semi finals are scheduled at different times and dates, the conditions are slightly different.
Extra time and reserve day for first semifinal
For the first semifinal, scheduled as a night game on Wednesday, June 26, an additional 60 minutes will be allotted to the match duration. If the game remains unfinished, it will be rescheduled to the reserve day on Thursday, June 27, with a total playing time of 190 minutes allocated.
In case no play occurs on the initial scheduled day, any subsequent delays on the reserve day will result in a reduction of available overs.
Extra time for second semifinal
As the second semi final is scheduled for a morning start, there is no provision of a reserve day. However, an additional 250 minutes have been allocated for the completion of the game.
What happens if a semifinal is washed out?
If a match is abandoned despite the allocated extra time and reserve day, the team that topped its Super Eights group will advance to the final. Therefore, in the event of an abandoned first semifinal, South Africa would advance, while India would progress if the second semifinal is abandoned.
