Pakistan Railways has decided to increase freight charges by 3% for all shipments.
The government has announced that freight rates will rise by 3 percent across the board, starting from July 3, 2024. Pakistan Railways stated in a notification issued on Monday that this increase will apply to all Goods Traffic. However, it will not affect rates for Steel Coils, POL Products, LHC, LMC, Shunting Charges, wharfage, Demurrage, and destination charges.
A revised table of goods rates, showing the new rates per ton up to 5,000 kilometers, is currently being prepared. Divisional Superintendents will receive copies for distribution to all stations open for goods traffic booking.
