Imran Khan is requesting court intervention to prevent a potential transfer of custody to the military. Imran Khan, the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and former Prime Minister, has filed a petition with the Lahore High Court (LHC) through his lawyer, Uzair Karamat. The petition challenges any potential transfer of custody to the military for those involved in the events of May 9. Khan argues that civilian courts should retain jurisdiction over these detainees. In the petition, the federal government and the Inspector Generals (IGs) from all provinces are named as respondents.
Khan contends that false accusations have been leveled against him regarding the alleged incitement of protests at the General Headquarters (GHQ). He refers to the May 9 incident as a “false flag operation” and claims that the individuals who stole CCTV footage of the events are the actual perpetrators.
Additionally, Khan criticizes comparisons between the May 9 incident and the protests at the US Capitol, emphasizing that a thorough and transparent investigation led to the punishment of specific individuals without implicating an entire political party.
In his plea to the court, Khan requests an order ensuring that custody of those involved in the May 9 cases remains under civilian court jurisdiction. He seeks a stay order to prevent any potential transfer of custody to military authorities.
