Gemini AI May Soon Integrate with Android Auto
Google’s Gemini AI might soon be available on Android Auto, according to new hints found in the latest update. Android Authority discovered a sparkle icon, which is associated with Gemini, in the code. This suggests that Gemini could be integrated into Android Auto.
The code also includes references to “kitt,” which might be the name for this integration, though this hasn’t been confirmed yet. Other parts of the code mention phrases like “Start conversation” and “GeminiLiveAssistantAction,” indicating that Gemini could soon assist drivers through their car’s dashboard.
Recently, Google has been adding Gemini AI to more of its apps and devices, replacing or working alongside the Google Assistant. If Gemini does come to Android Auto, it will allow users to ask it questions and get personalized answers, similar to how it works in other apps.
For drivers, this could mean getting help with common road trip questions like finding the nearest rest stop or estimating travel time. Gemini may also use Google Maps to give better directions and traffic updates, helping drivers avoid wrong turns and missed exits.
To use Gemini AI, you’ll need a Google One AI Premium plan, which costs $20 per month in the U.S., £18.99 in the UK, or AU$32.99 in Australia. This plan provides access to advanced features like Gemini Advanced and high-quality images with Imagen 3.
Android Auto will soon let you control ‘local media’ directly. This means you’ll be able to manage music and other files stored on your phone right from your car’s dashboard.
Google is reportedly adding new features to Android Auto that will allow users to control ‘local media,’ such as music and radio stations saved on their phone, directly through the app.
According to 9to5Google, Google has been working on this feature since July. They aim to let users control their car’s radio system using Android Auto, but there’s no official timeline for when this will be available yet.
In the latest updates, Android Auto 12.7 and 12.8, new code suggests that you will soon be able to add and remove “Favorite” radio stations directly from the app. The updates also include new icons for controlling radio and local media playback.
However, these features aren’t available just yet. We’ll keep you informed if and when they are officially released.
