A monsoon is expected soon and a flood warning has been issued
The Punjab Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has warned about more monsoon rains expected in the province.
The new round of monsoon rains is set to start on Sunday and will continue until August 29. The rains will affect several areas, including Lahore, Gujranwala, Rawalpindi, Sargodha, Multan, Dera Ghazi Khan, Bahawalpur, Faisalabad, Sahiwal, and Gujrat.
Dera Ghazi Khan, Multan, and Bahawalpur divisions are at risk of flash floods because of the heavy rains. In the Sulaiman and Kirthar ranges, there is also a concern about flooding in the hill torrents due to the heavy downpour.
The PDMA has instructed all relevant departments, including commissioners, district commissioners, WASA, the irrigation department, rescue services, civil defense, and others, to stay alert.
PDMA Director General Irfan Ali Kathia has issued a statewide alert about the weather situation. He has advised the administration to take special precautions during the monsoon rains, especially during Chehlum. He also warned people to avoid gatherings on old rooftops and unsafe buildings.
